American Buffalo

American Buffalo Theatre breaks

About the show

After the success of Speed-the-Plow earlier this year, another David Mamet play comes to London. American Buffalo was described as “one of the best American plays of the last decade” when it premiered in 1975. The play has never been to London, so its arrival at Wyndham’s theatre has sparked much excitement.

American Buffalo theatre breaks give you the chance to see a tale of honour amongst thieves, or the lack of it. The play begins with Donny, a small time criminal selling a rare nickel to a customer for $90. Too late, he realises that the coin, known as a ‘buffalo nickel’, may well be worth much much, more. Donny engages the services of some poker buddies to steal the coin back in a heist that surpasses anything the friends have ever attempted before.

What to expect from American Buffalo

On an American Buffalo theatre break, you will see the twists and turns of this thrilling and gritty play as a small group of petty criminals prepare for the robbery of a lifetime. Razor sharp dialogue, dark humour and a riveting plot make this play the perfect centre-piece of your London theatre break. Damian Lewis, best known as Brody in Homeland, will be taking to a West End stage for the first time, providing yet another reason to book an American Buffalo theatre break.
