American Idiot, the two-time Tony award winning Broadway musical returns to London West End at the Arts Theatre. American Idiot the Musical theatre breaks let you into the world of three lifelong friends, Johnny, Will, and Tunny who want a change from their stifled suburban life. Johnny and Tunny move to the city for excitement and a meaning in life, while Will decides to stay back to work out his relationship with his pregnant girlfriend, Heather. Tunny quickly gives up city life, joins the army, and is shipped off to war. Johnny turns to drugs and finds a part of himself that he grows to dislike, has a relationship and experiences lost love.
Directed and choreographed by Racky Plews, American Idiot – The Musical at the Arts Theatre features Former X Factor contestant Amelia Lily as the girl that Johnny meets in the city, Whatsername. The musical, book written by Michael Mayer and Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong with lyrics by Armstrong and music by the band features the hit songs Boulevard of Broken Dreams, 21 Guns, Wake Me Up When September Ends, Holiday and of course the blockbuster title track, American Idiot.
