Harvey

Harvey Theatre breaks

About the show

The Pulitzer prize-winning comedy play, Harvey, is coming to London’s West End. Directed by Lindsay Posner and starring Maureen Lipman and James Dreyfus, Harvey has that winning combination of a fantastic script, an expert production team and great actors. Despite the huge success and critical acclaim of the film adaptation, Harvey theatre breaks give you the chance to see Mary Chase’s superb play at home on the stage.

On a Harvey theatre break, you will see the story of Elwood P. Dowd (James Dreyfus), a kind and friendly man, who has the embarrassing habit of introducing everybody he meets to his imaginary friend, Harvey. Harvey is described by Dowd as a Pooka, a Celtic mythical creature that can take many forms and bring both good fortune and bad. Dowd sees Harvey as a 6’3” rabbit, much to the annoyance of his sister (Maureen Lipman), who hopes for a better (and more normal) life for her and her daughter, free of giant rabbits.

What to expect from Harvey

With a Harvey theatre break, you can expect an evening of hilarious entertainment, acted to perfection by two prolific actors. After her success in Daytona last year Lipman is on top form and any chance to see her in the West End is not to be missed. However, there is much more to this production, with an award-winning script and a veteran director. A Harvey theatre break will be one to remember.
