Room on the Broom, like many other successful productions in the West End and around the country, is a stage show adapted from a children’s book. Written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Axel Scheffler, Room on the Broom is a charming tale of one witch, one broomstick and a host of hilarious animals. After its successful transfer to television during Christmas 2012, the story became a household name, and a firm favourite of young children, teenagers and adults alike.
When a witch and her cat are returning home in a storm, they are blown and buffeted by the winds and the witch loses her wand, bow and hat. When they are returned by a dog, a bird and a frog, the five of them find themselves friends on an adventure.
Room on the Broom is aimed at a younger audience but there is enough to keep the older children and the parents entertained too. The best family shows operate at a number of levels, something that Room on the Broom does very well.
