The Commitments

The Commitments Theatre breaks

About the show

Roddy Doyle’s iconic 1987 novel “The Commitments” was the first in a trilogy of books, then a 1991 film – and its latest incarnation sees the story appear in London’s West End.

A comedy-drama based in 1960s Dublin, The Commitments musical is the tale of a group of unemployed young men of varying musical talent and their highly-driven manager Jimmy Rabbitte, who somehow come together to form a successful soul band – but just as fame beckons, egos grow and tensions between them begin to rise…

What to expect from The Commitments

Featuring an outstanding soundtrack, The Commitments recalls the Dublin of half a century ago.

The original story of The Commitments skilfully wove together elements of comedy and drama and this play does exactly the same, with Doyle himself reworking it for the theatre. The show will have you wondering: will the band burn under the weight of its own egos and contradictions? And will Jimmy Rabbitte conquer Ireland through soul music? Prepare to be hooked and laugh hysterically whilst you find out on this fabulous London theatre break!

This relatively new West End show is already a huge hit. Despite only opening to theatre audiences in September 2013, we saw sales of over 500 tickets in the final three months of the year !

Tips for booking a cheap The Commitments Break

Discounts on Gold tickets for every performance but Saturdays mean cheap theatre breaks are very achievable for The Commitments. However, if you’re booking for the weekend, or for an exclusion period over a holiday break, there’s plenty of budget Balcony seats if you don’t mind the height. Watch out for the very cheapest price band: legroom is bad and views can be restricted. It’s worth paying marginally more for the clear view seats.
