Factory Superintendent Sid (Michael Xavier) and Union rep Babe Williams (Joanna Riding) meet at the Sleep-Tite Pajama Factory and are magnetically attracted to one another until a Trade Union dispute creates a bitter conflict between the two. As workers seek a wage rise of seven and a half cents an hour, Sid’s reluctance causes things to go sour with Babe and while he’s able to get close to her during a picnic, the atmosphere is very different when they return to the factory.
It’s through help from Gladys, the Factory President’s secretary, that Sid finds out about a shocking scandal involving his boss. Sid becomes determined to have him exposed, as well as getting the factory workers the pay rise they deserve. Can all this help him to win Babe back?
