A new show celebrating The Beatles famous recording sessions at the Abbey Road Studios will be opening at the Royal Albert Hall in April 2016. The Sessions at Abbey Road will be a “musical documentary” charting the creative process that gave us so many of the songs that we know and love. Producer Stig Edgren wants to give audiences, “an honest, respectful and accurate re-creation of how music history was made”. Inspired by the book, Here, There and Everywhere: My Life Recording the Music of The Beatles the memoir of studio engineer Geoff Emerick, The Sessions at Abbey Road covers the recording of classic albums such as Revolver, the White Album and of course, Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
A must for all Beatles fans, this is a ‘soundalike not a lookalike’ production despite the fact that the famous 18m x 11.5m Studio 2 at the Abbey Road Studios is being recreated on stage, complete with mixing booth. There will be period equipment, 39 musicians and eight singers used to recreate the multi-track recordings live on stage covering The Beatles career from 1962 to 1969, but no wigs or Sgt Pepper costumes. The idea is to recreate the feel and the atmosphere of those wonderfully creative sessions which changed popular music forever. With a The Sessions at Abbey Road theatre break, you will get great tickets for this amazing production with a relaxing stay in one of our selected Central London hotels. We can also look at booking your rail travel into London as we can get fantastic savings of up to 60% on certain routes.
