Wolf Hall

Wolf Hall Theatre breaks

About the show

Thomas Cromwell: blacksmith, soldier, merchant, advisor, courtier. It is 1527, and the mysterious and deadly Cromwell is the trusted advisor of Cardinal Wolsey, King Henry VIII’s right-hand man. Yet with Henry’s two-decade marriage to Katharine of Aragon yet to produce a male heir, the pressure on Wolsey is mounting to grant the King his desire. What happens to Katharine has terse ramifications, for England, for Catholicism, for Wolsey, and for Cromwell.

Adapted by Mike Poulton from the Man-Booker Prize-winning novel by Hilary Mantel, Wolf Hall is a searingly intense account of Tudor court politics. Following a transfer from its critically acclaimed run at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Wolf Hall runs alongside Mantel’s sequel, Bring Up the Bodies.
