Funny Girl

Funny Girl Theatre breaks

About the show

It's been 50 years since the first debut of Funny Girl arrived in London. Now, it has returned in full force to the wonderful west end, settling in at the sparkling Savoy Theatre. Funny Girl is a comedy-drama and a fun-loving musical, based upon the real life events of famous Broadway star: Fanny Brice. A struggling star, Fanny finally reaches stardom on the Broadway stage – but not without its difficulties on the way! Funny Girl is a story about reflection; through the use of flashback, Sheridan Smith’s Character tells the story of her life with her husband, Nick Arnstein, through drama and song – whilst she impatiently waits for him to return from prison.

The show, revamped by Jule Styne and Bob Merill, has a handful of new and updated songs, fresh content and other impressive changes to its original performance at the Menier Chocolate Factory. Famous star Barbara Streisand originally played the star role of Fanny Brice, both on Broadway and in the fantastic Hollywood film. Now on the west end, Sheridan Smith takes centre stage. Smith is no stranger to the west end stage, previously starring in and winning an Olivier award for her fabulous role as Elle in Legally Blonde.

Box office records were previously broken when the musical played at the Menier Chocolate Factory, as tickets sold out the morning after its first release at midnight! Tickets for the upcoming show in April are already selling like hotcakes. So, if Funny Girl sounds like the show for you - get booking now. You don't want to be missing out on the great deals we have to offer!
