About the show

Adapted from the beloved children’s book by Roald Dahl, Matilda The Musical has been a hit since opening night.

The show follows the story of downtrodden Matilda, a gifted and intelligent young girl who goes utterly unappreciated by her belligerent parents. When Matilda is finally old enough to go to school, her only ally against the cruel headmistress Miss Trunchbull, is her mild-mannered teacher known as Miss Honey. This classic Dahl story of the innocent, meek and talented, versus the grotesque, ultramodern and abrasive is brought to life through superb use of sound and staging. A Matilda theatre break will recreate Dahl’s deft, black wit and uncover the prickly yet heart-warming tale to the delight of the whole family.

What to expect from Matilda

Matilda theatre breaks are perfect for adults and children alike. Tim Minchin’s playful music and lyrics brings out the bawdy yet incisive tale of a precocious child up against the infuriating absurdity of adulthood. Miss Trunchbull, the headmistress, is a role that won multiple awards at the show’s inception and her evil cartoonish actions won’t fail to entertain. The show has since stormed Broadway, where its cheeky mix of British humour and an unvarnished portrayal of children, warts and all, have made it a winner.
