John Cleese and the Holy Grail

John Cleese and the Holy Grail breaks

Aged 12 and under

About the show

More than 50 years since a group of knights first galloped across Britain to the sound of coconut shells, Monty Python and the Holy Grail remains one of the funniest, most beloved and endlessly quotable films ever made. Following a sold-out UK tour, the legendary John Cleese hosts a unique screening and Q&A about the film – in aid of conservation charity Tusk, for whom he is a patron and ambassador – live on stage at London’s Gillian Lynne Theatre. All proceeds from the night will be donated to Tusk. The not-to-be-missed night will begin with an introduction from John Cleese – who, among other parts, played the famous limbless Black Night in the film. Audiences will then enjoy a screening of the iconic 90-minute film which came number 15 in a BBC poll about the funniest films of all time. During the discussion, Cleese will reflect on the making of the film, the legacy of Monty Python…and a few other choice memories. John Cleese said: “I’m delighted to be helping Tusk, a charity close to my heart and which does such valuable conservation work in Africa, as well as celebrating more than 50 years of Monty Python and The Holy Grail. I didn’t expect the Holy Grail legacy to continue for quite so long – nor myself – and without even a flesh wound, but I am very glad we have.” Audience members can expect fascinating behind-the-scenes stories, irreverent humour and, quite possibly, complete nonsense. So gather your fellow knights, dust off your coconuts and prepare for an evening celebrating one of comedy’s greatest ever movies – as well as helping a very important charity.
