The Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company is bringing Terence Rattigan’s play Harlequinade to London’s Garrick Theatre this winter as part of their yearlong residency. Branagh himself will perform and co-direct the play with Rob Ashford making this a perfect choice for your Kenneth Branagh theatre break in London 2015.
The company almost seem to be poking fun at them in this rarely performed comic masterpiece, in which a classical theatre company attempts to produce The Winter’s Tale and Romeo & Juliet while the intrigues and dalliances of the main characters, actors Arthur and Edna and stage manager Jack are accidentally revealed with increasingly chaotic and hysterical consequences.
Other plays in the season include The Painkiller, Romeo and Juliet, The Winter's Tale and The Entertainer
A behind the scenes view of the often crazy world of putting on a play told with great affection by the 20th Century dramatist Sir Terrence Rattigan. It is a farce with a strong satirical element to it.
